Our Legacy
"A House With Memory. A Place With Continuity."
"Every old house gathers stories. A century-old one gathers plenty. "
The old wing of the estate traces to the 1890s. Local memory holds that one of its earliest owners was a British woman – a Madame Durell, who came to these hills with her husband and found herself so taken with the light, the air, and the long valley views that she did not return to England when he did. She stayed. Eventually she married a local and had a family. The estate has held people in this way ever since. The sal wood ceiling of the old bungalow – darkened, character-rich – was there from the beginning. The logic of the house is unchanged: stone and timber, thick walls, rooms designed around climate, not display.
The property gradually became a boutique mountain lodge without losing its residential soul. Shared meals, familiar staff, repeat guests, and long stays shaped its character more than any marketing campaign could.
Through seasons and generations of guests, one principle stayed intact: hospitality here is personal, attentive, and unforced.
If you are returning, welcome back. If this is your first visit, welcome in.
